The Royal Cambrian Academy of Art proudly invites submissions for the 2025 Annual Open Exhibition. This event celebrates the diversity of artistic expression, welcoming both 2D and 3D works in any medium. Accepted pieces will be exhibited in our stunning Conwy gallery and featured online for viewing and sales. We warmly encourage artists of all levels—professionals, amateurs, and students—to submit their work. We look forward to seeing your creativity shine.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submit your entries between Tuesday, 17th September 2024, and 5:00 PM on Tuesday, 19th November 2024.
BASIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Open to UK-based artists aged 18 and over.

Artists may submit up to 2 works.
-
Submissions can be 2D or 3D and created in any medium.

Maximum size for 2D works: 100cm x 100cm; 3D works: 100cm x 100cm footprint.

All works must be for sale and priced accordingly.
-
The artwork must be the artist’s original creation and their sole property.
-
All entries must be submitted online, with a digital image and an entry fee for each work.
-
No physical hand-in is required for selection; only selected works need to be delivered to the Academy.
PRIZES
-
The Selector’s Prize: £1,000, awarded by the Academy.
ENTRY FEES

£15 for one artwork; £25 for two artworks (entry fees have been frozen due to the cost of living crisis).

Students with a valid NUS card: £10 for one artwork; £20 for two artworks.

EXHIBITION DETAILS
Selected works will be exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art gallery in Conwy from 11th January to 1st March 2025. All selected works will also be displayed on the Academy’s website.

SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions must be made via Curatorspace. To submit your work, visit the Open Call webpage and click the “make a submission” button. You will be prompted to enter your details and pay the submission fee. Each entry must include one image of the work.
IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

Submit one image per work.
-
Maximum file size: 1.5 MB, JPEG format.
-
For 2D works, photograph the piece head-on.
-
For 3D works, photograph against a plain background.
NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
You will be notified by email if your work has been selected. The selectors' decisions are final, and no further correspondence will be entered into.
IF YOUR WORK IS SELECTED
-
All selected 2D works must have a mirror plate fitted centrally on each side of the frame or canvas. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the exhibition.

Works over 4.5kg (10lbs) must have four mirror plates.

Metal frames and clip frames are not allowed.
-
3D works must be stable and safe for exhibition.

Each artwork must have a label securely attached to the back, with the artist’s name, title, medium, and price. The label should hang over the front of the work to assist with identification during hanging.

Clearly write the artist’s name and the title of the piece on the reverse of the work.
SALE OF WORK
-
A 40% commission will be deducted from sales, so please factor this into your pricing.

The price listed on the submission form should include this commission.

The gallery will aim to pay artists within 28 days of the exhibition’s end.
-
Payments may take longer if the artwork is sold through the Collectorplan scheme.
DELIVERY OF WORK TO THE GALLERY
-
If delivering your work in person, you must take the wrapping with you.
-
Packaging from works delivered by courier or post will be retained and reused where possible.

Please note that the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art does not cover any transport costs, including shipping or postage.

Participants must arrange the delivery and collection of their work.
COLLECTION OF UNSOLD WORK
-
Unsold works must be collected within one month of the exhibition closing date.

Selected works cannot be removed before the exhibition closes on 1st March 2025.

Unsold works will be available for collection during gallery hours—please check our website for details

To collect your work, please bring ID. If someone else is collecting on your behalf, they must bring written permission from you.

Any works not collected within one month of the exhibition’s close may be sold or disposed of at the Academy’s discretion, with proceeds used as deemed appropriate.
INSURANCE & DAMAGE TO WORK

We take great care of all works submitted for the exhibition, but the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art is not liable for any loss or damage, however caused.

Exhibitors are responsible for insuring their own works against damage or loss, both during transit and while at the gallery.
COPYRIGHT
-
By entering the Open Exhibition, you confirm that you hold all intellectual property rights to your work and have obtained necessary permissions for any third-party copyrighted material.

You agree to allow the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art to photograph, reproduce, and edit your work for publicity and marketing purposes, in both digital and print formats.

Copyright remains with the artist.
DATA PROTECTION
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and all relevant Data Protection Legislation, the Royal Cambrian Academy will securely hold the personal data provided by artists on the Entry Form. This data will be used only for administering the Open Exhibition and will not be shared with any third party not directly involved in the exhibition.

Submission fees are payable by debit or credit card after the first submission is completed. If the fee covers multiple submissions, additional entries can be made after the first.
