Stanson Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

I am Dr Ron Lawson, a professional sculptor from the northeast of England. I create under the name Stanson and work in clay, plaster, steel and bronze to commission.

In my sculptural practice I work under the name Stanson, creating in clay, steel and bronze. I have a Doctorate in Arts-based Transformative Learning, an MBA and an MA in Contemporary Fine Art. In my practice I explore the notion of ‘being in the world’ and the concepts of ‘the subject and the object’, ‘the human and the thing’. I use an autoethnographical approach in my practice research, making sense of who I am as a creative human, being present in the world through my sculptures, I invite viewers engaging with my work to do the same in a reflexive recognition of the shared human condition. My work builds upon a heritage of industrial and fine art techniques to create my contemporary expressionistic works that bare witness to the marks and the scars of the creative process, symbolic evidence of being in the world.
