I’m a self taught Yorkshire artist creating bright colourful textured oil paintings on canvas and wood. My inspiration comes from walks in the Dales and flowers around my garden studio.
My paintings feature an abstract bright blue sky and many layers of colour in the background highlighting the distant hills and peaks . Over time I add thick layers of oils using only a palette knife adding bright blue waterfalls or patterns of stone walls, stepping-stones and open gates. I always paint bright larger than life flowers in the foreground ,daffodils, poppies or Yorkshire Heather. I want the viewer to feel they are sat in amongst the flowers breathing in the scent whilst their eyes widen and absorb the colours in the hills and trace the natural patterns of the stonewalls.
