Rhiannon Kendall is a Contemporary Artist and Poet, Prison Teacher and Freelance Art Workshop Facilitator who lives and works in York, North Yorkshire, UK (b. 1996). Drawing, Painting, Poetry and Spoken word are all central to the Artist's practice. Rhiannon's work is often inspired by her experiences of being a queer woman from a working class council estate and mining village background.
Rhiannon Kendall is a Northern Queer Contemporary Artist and Poet, Prison Teacher and Freelance Art Workshop Facilitator who lives and works in York, North Yorkshire, UK (b. 1996). Drawing, Painting, Poetry and Spoken word are all central to the Artist's creative practice. Rhiannon's work is often inspired by her experiences of being a queer woman from a working class council estate and mining village background. She secured a First Class Degree in Fine Art and an MA in Fine Art in York and then later completed a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education. Alongside being a practicing Artist, Rhiannon works as a Teacher in a custodial setting, course leading on subjects including Art, Financial Skills, Employability and Digital Skills qualifications. Rhiannon occasionally delivers Art workshops within the community and is confident facilitating workshops that explore mediums and processes such as Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Poetry, Spoken Word, Collage and Mixed Media Artwork.
In 2022, Rhiannon was awarded a 9 month artist residency to undertake a focused practice as research project titled 'Ghosts from a Small Town' surrounding lost queer and working class narratives and experiences surrounding loss, home and memory at Loughborough University through the AA2A (Artists Access to Art Colleges and Institutions) Project and was later awarded Artists of the year 2022 Nationally.
