In 2016 I made a commitment to focus on my own practice and fulfill a career long ambition to specialise in ceramics. I completed an MA in Ceramics: Design at Manchester School of Art last year. In 2019 I will be exhibiting at Ceramic Wales (July) and The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, Manchester (October).
I use stoneware and porcelain paperclay to create sculptures inspired by birds and animals known to me through lasting friendships, brief encounters or whose presence I feel through their tracks and traces around me. Torn edges, rough surface texture and volcanic glazes depict the animal’s deep and intimate relationship within the landscape.
