I am a visual artist, primarily working with oil paints. I trained at university in Canterbury, obtaining my BA in Fine Art in 2005. I moved to Yorkshire in 2006 and later completed my Masters degree in Art Therapy in 2012. I currently live in Leeds and work from my home based art studio. I exhibit and sell her paintings online and at Art Fairs, and work on a commission basis.

'Alexa's oil paintings often depict wildlife from her travels and from her garden. She finds inspiration from her two young children and their fascination and love of animals and nature. Alexa keeps her brushwork loose and fluid, giving her work an expressive and impulsive quality. She uses layers of paint, scratching and scraping at the surface, adding interest and depth'.

My practice as an art therapist and passion for using art as a way of healing has greatly impacted my work as an artist. I enjoy the meditative element art making can bring and painting helps me to re-charge and unwind.
