    Lorraine Marie is a contemporary abstract artist whose work is defined by playfulness, experimentation, and a love of mixing things up. She creates expressive, impasto-inspired pieces using a combination of textured mediums, palette-knife techniques, layered strokes, and intuitive mark-making. Her process is fluid and exploratory, allowing each artwork to evolve naturally.

    Creative expression has always been intrinsic to my life having worked with pencil, pen and ink, lino cut, oil pastel, watercolour and acrylics. After retiring in 2017 I followed my passion for mid century design restoring and selling sewing boxes internationally. I then returned to mixed media work in 2021.     I’m Jane and I’m a fine silver contemporary jewellery maker. I came to art as an outlet whilst being a full time carer though I’ve always loved the arts especially galleries. I’m due to commence an arts degree in June 2026 to deepen my love of drawing.

    My artistic practice is a response to architecture and the natural environment and reflects on particular sites in the context of poetry and literature. Alternative approaches to mapping is the crux of my research, I juxtapose and transform words, signs, symbols and texts into installations, artist’s books, prints and drawings.
