I am a Slade School graduate who completed my postgraduate studies at Wimbledon College of Art. Since 2019, as artistic director and curator, I have been helping to develop Guggleton Farm Arts, in Dorset, and painting in my studio on site. In 2020 I formed Guggleton Farm Arts CIC, which is a Social Enterprise Company, whose focus is to encourage inclusion and experimentation in the creative arts.

Unfortunately, some years ago, I developed a chronic pain disorder which now limits my active time. Fundamental to my work is a celebration of the human form, although I choose to simplify, pare down and concentrate on the beauty of the body and to share the daily activities of play, sleep, sex and food. They are lives caught in the moment but, as they are not any lives that have been lived [being as they are, all from my head] I am introducing you to people and positions you might never meet. They are not to be glanced at and discarded but to be considered for the physicality of the composition, of the paint and of the pure joy of confronting our bodies and the dramas that we create. I work mainly in oils, the figures rendered in this, my favourite medium. The act of painting helps me to transcend the everyday aches and pains I experience and, trance like, the images appear from my inside as I grab whatever other mediums come to hand to help me to free the image from me. This process of layering and removing, adding and taking back is a visceral one and offers up a translucency in the finished image that has taken years of experimentation to reach. I often feel that the scratching of the skin is a physical assault upon the image itself.
