My practice is originally pen to paper, working from mind, Mental health plays a big part in the outcome of many of my pieces, alongside history and heritage finding purpose, analysing to build a picture of the past, present and sometimes the future. I love to see some relation in how over time there has been a growth and decline for a person with mental health.

My work is mainly in black and white on paper. Digital has shown me how to use colour to help with illustrating, going forth; I would love to collaborate commercially with a Mental health organisation in showing casing through my art.

Further, I am exploring other textures I can use, different work forms such as wood burning, etching onto mental and using oils and inks to draw onto bark which is preserved and flattened. I also refer to my mind as a washing machine, so much of my work has one hidden in most pieces. My latest explore and exhibit piece was combining a drum of a washing machine and nature wood to make a bookshelf, exhibited in the Scarborough Museum and Gallery, alongside 8 other pen pieces and an animal hide that I drew on and preserved with beeswax to show a moment in time. This is just the start of a new beginning for me.

Sense of place, Northern Expressions

13/02/2024 — 07/03/2025

Northern Expression allowed us to further our knowledge, learn, and grow, and it prepared us as a group of eight people for our exhibition in January 2025. We visited many areas in the UK for project days and exhibition viewing in places such as 'The Baltic' in Newcastle for inspiration.
