I worked for over 30 years as a qualified nurse, in many varied settings. I embarked on a Fine Arts Degree to fulfill a long held ambition. My practice revolves around experimenting with materials such as textiles, ceramic , plaster and glass. My interest is in giving expression to social history and creating installations.

I am currently curating a project for my degree show. This project has been based on my experiences as a student nurse within an old Asylum hospital . I was based on a female long stay ward . My practice involves figurative and abstract work, with an aim to give expression of mainly unseen histories. The work I have been developing has sought to give an artistic view of institutionalisation, and reducing personal identity with regards to personal clothes. I have made silicone moulds of my arms and of and my face in profile and shoulder as part of my work with textile burn off experimentation. These figurative pieces are constructed from layers of textile ( natural fibres) , and porcelain slip. I have also been developing plaster and textile work ( abstract)and glass slumping pieces ( figurative ) My aim is to continue with 3D work exploring stories of social history and giving them a voice.
