Carl Bedford Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
I am a 50 year old man originally from Yorkshire, but I now live near Durham in the Northeast. I have enjoyed several careers from being a Graphic Artist, to serving 10 years in the RAF as an Intelligence Analyst and most recently being a Registered Mental Health nurse. My mental health involvement has inspired me to creative vibrant and positive images that aim to inspire hope.
I like to create bright, vibrant, bold and positive imagery. Predominantly oil on canvas and framed. I enjoy reconditioning old frames by striping them back and then reusing them after sanding, spraying etc. My work is hopefully happy and positive and helps to give strength and resilience to the viewer. I am a full time artist and I rent a loft space in the City of Sunderland in the Northeast of England and also work from a studio/summerhouse in my garden at home. I do use multimedia to create any project, from carving walking sticks to making sculptures from driftwood to recycling tin cans to make roses. My main direction is oil on canvas but the creative bug sometimes takes a hold and distracts me in a positive way.
