Freelance Illustrator, painter and collage artist. My practice is based between Harrogate and Carcassonne in the South of France. I regularly take part in community projects. My website is currently being updated but I exhibit on Instagram under: Jan_gleaves_france

I have worked as a freelance illustrator and designer for many years but have continued with my own practice alongside. Commercially I have worked within the Interior Design and publishing sectors but during the last six years been fortunate to spend more time practicing my own art as a collage artist and painter.

My work is varied and includes strong design elements due to my early studies of William Morris Wallpapers and textiles and my illustration work. Working in the south of France has influenced my strong use of colour. I would describe my practice as semi-abstract and myself as a colourist. My admiration of artists Sonia Delaunay, Sandra Blow, Terry Scott, and Matisse have influenced my work over many years.
