My work touches on themes of belonging, mythology, memory, identity and the female gaze. In my creative practice, I enjoy exploring the symbolism behind water, waterlilies, lotus flowers, landscapes and the female body. I believe that my mixed heritage has been a rich source of material to work with, as I experiment with oil paint and mixed media on canvas.
My mixed heritage is a source of inspiration for my paintings, and growing up between cultures has created a rich narrative for me to utilize in my work. My creative practice empowers me to explore my identity and the world around me so I can tell stories, paint and connect.
Since graduating from the RCA and Slade, I have used the Edenic theme to reflect upon my identity and question my fascination with the delicate boundaries of belonging, censorship, gender and sexuality. Creating culturally hybrid worlds by using archival imagery, historical art references, fashion magazines, and photos of my body or people I know.
