Lewis Buttery is an artist from Leicester, in the United Kingdom. After initially getting into the art world self-taught in 2013, he got his Foundation in Art & Design from De Montfort University in 2018 and then a BA in Fine Art from UAL: Central Saint Martins in 2021.
I don’t want to make work about philosophy, I want to be philosophical. Art is enough on its own. It’s an outlet. Catharsis. It’s a break from philosophy. Constant introspection and growing takes its toll on you, and that toll must be released. What better way to release it than on a canvas or in a sculpture?
My work is a receptacle to contain my anxiety and my rage. I like how authentic it feels as a result. There is no bullshit in my work.
