Lizzie Stone Somerset, United Kingdom
As a Bristol-based abstract artist, I explore the interplay of texture and colour through experimentation. My work juxtaposes controlled techniques with spontaneous paint reactions, creating vibrant compositions that capture fleeting moments. Each piece is a unique marriage of material, gesture, and chance.
As a painter, I strive to create beautiful marriages of texture and colour, governed by the character of material and paint. My work is a testament to the love of experimentation and an ever-evolving process, making each piece truly unique.
My interest lies in the potential of materials and the effect of colour, which lends itself naturally to abstract work that is both mindful and aesthetically intriguing. I use a bold and vibrant palette to bring a refreshing strength to each piece.
Through process-led exploration, my work emerges from the different behaviours of paint. Some areas are purposefully manipulated, while others are born from the chance reactions of the materials. Techniques like printing and dripping allow me to retain an element of control, resulting in a beautifully incidental juxtaposition of the gestural and the accidental.
Every mark and impression in my work represents a brief stop in time—a moment that was once created in the present and has now become a part of the past.
