Having studied Fine Art at Reading University my passion to share my love for sculpture and ceramics led me to later graduate from Edge Hill University as a teacher of art and design. After 13 years teaching sculpture, ceramics, and fine art to pre-degree students, sharing my time between artist and educator, I now work as a full-time ceramic artist in my garden studio in West Lancashire.

Working in porcelain to create sculptural forms, wall hangings and jewellery, my work not only celebrates the northern landscape, but also my family history. My childhood pastime of rock pooling and beach combing remains my inspiration. I am a collector and retriever, drawing and repurposing treasured objects collected on coastal rambles to create seascape inspired vessels, relief pieces and wearable art. I combine my history with my current practice by imprinting my work with patterns and surfaces from vintage lace and crochet founded in my family’s craftwork. My smaller handmade forms are fused with foraged driftwood to create relief wall hangings. I am excited by climatic changes, constantly experimenting by layering and combining glazes. Form, colour, texture, and heritage are therefore equally balanced to create unique porcelain forms.
