I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in Lancashire, U.K, conducting practice based research as part of my Fine Art MA. I work with cyanotype as well as other print-making methods. My work features archetypal symbolism and is heavily based around the teachings of C.G Jung. I also work in the fashion industry and I am currently exploring opportunities which form bridges between the two worlds.

Working primarily as a printmaker, I use a large custom-built UV lightbox to create life size cyanotype prints onto paper and fabric. Working on fabric as well as paper allows me the opportunity to manipulate the cyanotype outcomes in different ways, such as hanging works and installations. Using myself as a model, in addition to cut-out stencils, drawings and both natural and found objects, I create blueprints and photograms. If the sun is shining, and I can get them to stay still long enough, I use my children as models too! The ethereal quality of line achieved from working in this way, along with the unique shade of blue created and the range of emotions that this can allude to, is fitting for my work. It is well suited to my recent practice-based research into C.G Jung’s theory that we are all interconnected via a collective unconscious. This research warranted an intense look at myth, folklore and storytelling, which has led to archetypal symbols featuring significantly in my work, as I explore the meaning that we give to them. My interest in how myth creates meaning, and what it can bring to our lives as individuals as well as a wider society, and where we each fit into that, is explored in my work. My driving force to create comes from a desire to share stories. Working intentionally with archetypal symbols affords me a peace of mind I struggle to find elsewhere in my life as a busy, working solo-parent. Understanding the world mythologically, through archetypes and symbols, is of comfort for me as I try to orient myself in the world and make sense of events unfolding on a local, national and global scale. Alongside my artistic development, I work in the fashion industry as a buyer for an outdoor and streetwear retailer. I am currently working with several partners to develop a range of British-produced streetwear featuring my artwork.
