Linda Chapman London, United Kingdom
I am a photographic artist living in London. After graduating in art photography, I worked commercially and had exhibitions around the UK, such as the V and A, Barbican, Stills gallery & The Other Art Fair plus features in publications. I now concentrate on just my personal work, inspired by natural light, reflections and refraction, usually within urban landscapes and using architecture.
My work is about capturing natural light when it is at its most playful and colourful by way of refraction. I am drawn to abstract reflected patterns, usually involving architecture as the angles and lines came into play beautifully when glass is involved and natural refraction occurring. Glass is such a beautiful material. Urban reflections, urban windows offer such fascinating frames, showing an image, a representation, its counterpart, giving back. Giving away so much but never telling the truth. What is inside? What is outside? I photograph exactly what I see and do not use manipulation to create or layer the image - just a little extra contrast to bring out the colours.
