I am a sculptor from Sheffield. I studied fine art/sculpture at Psalter lane art college in Sheffield. I work predomanatly in wood.
I use basic geometric shapes-specifically in the form of the wooden clothes peg and a simple jigsaw shape. With this intergrated format I create modular characters that evolve based on the initial idea-object I intend to make, this offers multiple interpretations for the viewer. The use of heiroglyphic influences adds depth, suggesting that each piece carries more than just a visual form but also an underlying narrative or symbolism. The deliberate cut lines, curves and circles that evoke faces, bodies and stylised animals invites the audience to project emotions and stories onto the pieces, making each viewing experience unique. This dynamic interplay between the overall structure and it's complex construction seems to make the characters both engaging and thought provoking, encouraging viewers to immerse themselves in the conversation between art and observer.
