Guerin is a Franco-British artist exploring intersections between nature and human innovation. Drawing on his engineering background, he merges recycled metals, bioplastics, and botanical elements into sculptural projects. His work addresses themes of resilience, adaptation, and sustainability, inviting dialogue between ecology and contemporary art.

My practice explores the evolving dialogue between human innovation and the natural world, striving to bridge these realms and foster harmony where technology and ecosystems are often seen as opposing forces. Drawing on my background as an engineer (MEng), I approach materials and processes with precision, informed by a commitment to sustainability and the principles of structure – gravity, load, and counterbalance. My sculptures reflect cycles of growth, decay, and adaptation, mirroring the resilience of ruderal plants that thrive in disrupted environments.

Working with materials such as recycled bronze, aluminium, glass, ceramics, and botanical elements, I create pieces that embody transformation and renewal. Techniques such as industrial fabrication, bioplastic cultivation, and traditional lost-wax casting allow me to merge the mechanical and organic, offering new perspectives on material use and reuse. For example, in Echoes of Extraction, I examined the environmental and ethical impact of material life cycles, while Ephemeral Structures, a series of digitally-aided ceramic forms, revealed intricate details blending mathematical precision with natural flow.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to shift perceptions and deepen our understanding of interconnectedness. Inspired by Rachel Carson’s assertion that “in nature, nothing exists alone”, my works evolve dynamically as viewers interact with them, inviting curiosity and reflection on our relationship with the ecosystems we inhabit.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art (MA Sculpture, 2024), I have exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Dalkeith Palace, and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, among other venues. My works are held in public collections in China and in private collections across the UK, Canada, and France.
