I am a sculptor from Sheffield. I studied fine art/sculpture at Psalter lane art college in Sheffield. I work predomanatly in wood.
I use the geometric form of the wooden clothes peg and a simple jigsaw shape to create individual characters called "Jigpegs" They become the building blocks or strands of dna to create familiar 3d objects or sculptural wall pieces. There is an element of hieroglyphic imagery that flows through the pieces that hopefully stimulates a conversation between it and the observer. Sparking the imagination. I try to construct shapes that change their form depending on how you view them. Using simple cut lines, curves and circles to simulate faces and body parts or stylised animals. These Jigpeg characters display a spectrum of emotional elements to stir the imagination of the onlooker.
