Nicki Dennett Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Derby based printmaker and illustrator Nicki Dennett creates multi-layered, mixed media prints inspired by life around her. Nicki’s continual observation of her environment and an appreciation of all aspects of existence inspire her work. Research and development of materials are key to my work and continually filling sketchbooks are often the idea basis for my handmade prints.
Contemporary artist based in Derbyshire. Known for vibrant and dynamic original prints, which are inspired by nature, landscapes, and human emotion. Born in Derbyshire, initially studied Illustration at the University of Derby where I honed my skills in printmaking. Later I went on to achieve a Masters degree in textiles. Since then I have been developing my practice and style through exhibitions, workshops and residencies. My work is now characterized by its bold colours and composition, and the use of expressive mark-making.
My art is deeply rooted in a connection to nature drawing inspiration from changing seasons, patterns and textures of the landscape, and the way light falls on surfaces. The use of colour is also a prominent feature, with bold, bright hues that capture the energy and vitality of the natural world. Exhibitions include The Harley Gallery in Nottinghamshire, the Cupola Gallery in Sheffield, Royal Derby Hospital and a sell out show at Derby University. Solo shows include Nottingham Castle and Deda in Derby.
My work resonates with viewers of all ages and backgrounds, offering a unique perspective on the world around us. Whether depicting the beauty of nature or the complexity of human emotion, my work is a celebration of life, energy, and creativity.
