Lewis Dimmick BA (Hons) is a contemporary oil painter based in the North East of England.
In my practice I make people and place my subject, painting where life leaves it's mark on the land and where I can celebrate a moment observed by chance. My process is intuitive, physical, and deeply tied to the act of being present, immersed in a space.
Whether I'm painting on a street corner or somewhere remote, I thrive on the unpredictability of a scene. Light shifts, subjects change and the world carries on around me, providing challenges and decisions for me to navigate while painting.
Beyond depicting what I see, I strive to capture the essence of a location – it’s atmosphere, it’s heritage.
