I am an abstract and intuitive painter, Danish and living in Scotland. My background is psychology and I have been creating as far back as I remember. I attended various Art schools including, the open College of Arts, Buckinghamshire New University and Leith School of Art, Edinburgh. I took early retirement in order to pursue my passion for making and exploring the arts
My paintings are contemporary abstract mixed media and I love to include collage reusing discarded papers and making my own mono prints to build up layers which for me has a timeline quality where I can excavate earlier layers. I love creating my own tools such as brushes and finding discarded objects for example a wooden fork from the fish and chip shop to make grooves in thick paint. I paint in an evocative expressionist style and my first encounter with this style occurred when I saw an exhibition by Emil Nolde, a German/Danish painter and printmaker. He was one of the first Expressionists to explore colours during the early 20th century Intuitive and expressionistic paintings is what I enjoy looking at and what I enjoy making as it reflects what I am thinking and feeling, what I observe or what I am reflecting on: past, present and future
