My name is Georges Meisner. I am a video artist/filmmaker

I am the creator of The Compostelan Cycle. This is a five hour and fifteen minutes work of video art dealing with the Romanesque Sculpture and Medieval Pilgrimage Roads to Santiago de Compostela. The work consists of fifteen independent segments which present the pilgrimage roads through France and Spain to their destination. Each segments is made up of Super-8 film of the stretches of medieval roads, landscapes, bridges and other infrastructure dating to twelfth century. These are interspersed with sequences of Romanesque portal relief sculptural ensembles which are presented in their entirety. These sculpures also date from the twelfth century. The Compostelan Cycle contains a total of 42 such portal programmes over the course of its duration. The work is intended as an installation piece and is non-narrative. It is not a documentary in the traditional sense but an immersive film.
