Imogen Mansfield London, United Kingdom
My practise involves writing, photography, performance, film and installation. Notions of permeability and wayfinding, in body, mind and environment, inform and motivate my work.
Through exploring natures of conflict and complexity within the living being, the projects I develop are about navigating and valuing the indeterminacy that exists both within and beyond the self. My practise handles the knots and failings of daily life, whilst treasuring experiential qualities of fragility, vulnerability and radiance. Braiding together realities, memories, fictions and capacities; this is my attempt to make the adventure of living possible.
I undertook my Master’s Degree in Arts & Place, during which I had the opportunity to advance and present my work through residency placements with Hauser & Wirth Somerset, Delfina Foundation and Dartington Trust. I have read and exhibited in numerous settings, including as a guest poet with Queer Botany at Chelsea Physic Garden. I maintain a quietly active daily practice, whilst currently developing multiple projects for art, literature and cinema.
