Jazmine Webb West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Performance art background, focussing on identity in performance, site specific work and interactive installations. Exploring themes of heritage, mythology and sustainability as everyday practise. Current ongoing projects include devising workshops for community arts festivals and events in Europe and South Africa and creating audience participatory performance.
During 2014 I engaged with site specific work as a stimulus for creating my own, this was inspired by Karoline Hjorth and Riita Ikonen's talk at the Tetley about their work 'Eyes As Big As Plates'. Other subjects that wove into my practise were heritage, identity, nationality and Nordic mythology as a way of exploring my social make up and establishing connections I have with the four elements (fire, earth, air and water).
My current projects are; - Workshop, how to exchange your time as a form of currency, - Site specific movement groups (interpretative dance, body work, ensemble, contact), - Using up-cycled material to create furnishes for a garden design, - Cabaret performance (ode to Agnetha) for Ketchup Cabaret, - Tarot card design for interactive performance, - Head of planning for construction of interactive installation in Spain 2018, - Cabaret host for Nest 2018.
As an interior designer, I create immersive work reflective of times or seasons to capture the imagination of the viewer and invite them to participate or interact with the work around them. Throughout my time working with and for Leelex, I was able to utilise my resourcefulness by designing cocktails for events and occasions in collaboration with the bar team at Pintura. My passion and versatility allowed me to pursue a more creative role in the direction of décor and design for holidays, including events, across the northern Leelex sites such as Jake’s Bar, Oporto and Neon Cactus as well as Pintura being my main point of focus. I pride myself on creating sustainable budgets in regards to decorative elements with minimal waste. The work I create is unique and often hand crafted to build upon the foundation of bespoke exclusivity that is reflective of the integral design.
