Lewis Dimmick Fine Art Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

Lewis Dimmick is a contemporary oil painter based in the North East of England. He graduated from Northumbria University's Fine Art degree with honours then maintained his practice privately for a number of years, only recently sharing his work with the community through open exhibition calls, or you may even have found him on the streets painting en plein air.

My current body of work in oil, is about capturing moments of calm for retrospection and embraces figurative works and landscapes which are painted from life, I'm also known to capture wildlife if they stay still long enough.

I started to paint from life, chiefly, because I find it very difficult and I love the challenge - the same spark that drove me to run ultramarathons and compete in rock climbing competitions - but then I fell in love with the shifting light, vibrancy of colour, value differences and the forms that you can only get from being in nature.
