martin gollan Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
I work across a variety of media, mainly, painting, drawing, printmaking, with occasional forays into sculpture, sound and photography..
Currently I am concentrating my time on printmaking and illustration, the latter using pen, ink and watercolour. I prefer using traditional materials and processes, with only intermittent use of digital tools, such as photoshop, mainly for cleaning up drawings or illustrations intended for publication.
The most recent set of paintings I have completed have been about landscape, and painted in the landscape where I'm interested about the public/performative element to working outdoors (or indeed, visitors during open studio events) and engaging with passers-by curious to know what your up to.
I'm also interested in collaborating on projects, especially with those who use a different discipline. During the past few years, working with Culture Matters, a cooperative seeking to achieve a cultural commons in a socialist society, I have been able to collaborate with poets to illustrate collections of their poetry.
I am a member of Artists' Union England
