  Back to profiles

Alexandra is an emerging photographer based in Nottingham, using 35mm and medium format film to create her work. She captures nature and abstract portraits that explore themes of connection, identity, and vulnerability.

My work embraces the tactile and intentional nature of film photography, where each frame is a deliberate decision made long before the shutter clicks. By experimenting with both color and black-and-white emulsions, I explore how the choice of medium shapes the story I aim to tell. For me, photography is less about capturing reality and more about interpreting it—a playful and creative process that invites both thought and spontaneity.

Through the use of various 35mm and medium-format cameras, I emphasize the connection between vision and craft, believing that photography is not about the gear but about the artistic approach. Each image I create is a reflection of my commitment to slowing down, seeing intentionally, and embracing the unexpected beauty inherent in analog processes.
