Andrey Ustinov Germany
I am (*1975, Luga / former USSR) a Berlin-based performance and media artist. I explore themes of #technologies, #perception, #property, #resources, #power and mostly work in public space. The main focus of my work is the cognitive activity of pedestrians and their idiosyncratic acting in public space.
Most of my works have a performative approach, where I either appear as performer himself or initiate a technologically mediated situation that forces the invited audience or the casual, often completely unsuspecting passer-by, to participate in a performative experience. This is how my video works, art walks, mapping, site-specific sculptures, installations and web apps emerge, where sound, light, image and electricity establish themselves as artistic actors.
In addition to my personal artistic projects, I lead workshops at various art, cultural and educational institutions across Europe on such topics as Art Walks, Art and Cartography, Performance Art, Participatory Art Practices, Art and Technologies.
2011 I graduated from Academy of Media Arts Cologne / Germany (Profs. Marcel Odenbach, Prof. Dr. Anne von der Heiden, Mischa Kuball, Julia Scher, Cologne / Germany)
I was granted by Kunstfond Art Foundation, Bonn / Germany (2022), Academy of Arts Berlin (2021), Goethe Institute (2016), participated in numerous international exhibitions, biennials, and festivals, among others, CityLeaks Festival in Cologne / Germany (2019), Media Art Biennial WRO in Wrocław / Poland (2017), Flaherty at Anthology Film Archives NYC / USA (2013), Rendez-Vous Lyon / France (2008), 50th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen / Germany (2004), 1st Prague Biennale / Czech (2003).
