Protest art—words and images—We believe art has the power to change society. It can influence the way we think and act as individuals and as a society. We must make our voices heard in the political world today! For this reason, Dunoon MOCA is opening up in January for a special one week POP Up exhibition to coincide with the US Presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025. This is an open call invitation to all artists, poets and activists everywhere/anywhere who wish to mark this governmental transition by protest. Join us with this opportunity to have your say.

Once your artwork has been accepted, please photocopy it onto onto a sheet of A4 paper ( 81/2 x 11”) or postcard and post to: Dunoon MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) 18 Ferry Brae, Dunoon Scotland PA23 7DJ  UK.

Please include your name, location and title of artwork on the back of the photocopied image.

Artwork will not be returned.

The exhibition will be documented and may be collated into book form at a later date, so please also indicate your permission for us to use your work in this fashion on the back of the image along with the other requested information. 

IMPORTANT:

Please mail in an envelope 9 x 6 inches/160 x 227 mm, or the postman won’t be able to deliver it through the gallery mail slot.
(OK to fold paper size to fit the envelope.)

All photocopied artwork must be received by Saturday January 18, 2025.

Do not send originals.

The exhibition will run for one week from January 20 - 26, 2025. Opening reception January 20, 2025, 2-4 pm.

All artists, poets and activists are invited to participate in this moment of change. 

Gallery hours for this special edition Pop-up will be M, T, W, Th, Fri, Sat 1-4 pm.

There is no word count limit for written artwork, but your work needs to fit on a single A4 sheet.

Work will not be returned.

Is there a private view / opening?
Yes, there will be a free open reception for the artists on Monday, January 20, 2025, 2-4 pm.

What are the selection criteria?
All forms of protest --any media however, artwork/text art/poetry must be photocopied onto a sheet of A4 paper
( 81/2 x 11”) or postcard and must be able to be posted in an envelope no larger than 160 x 227 mm or 9 x 6 inches.
