We are looking for artists for an upcoming exhibition which will permeate the streets of East London for a duration of 10 days in August. Artworks will occupy the windows of shops, cafes, galleries and other local businesses. By punctuating our daily routine with art we are reminded to slow down and observe. To stop and notice.

CALL FOR ARTISTS | public notice : an exhibition

There is much to learn from the small details, those we usually miss when rushing from place to place. In recent times, experiencing less hectic lives, we gave ourselves permission to begin observing the world as one would normally only observe art. Visually enriched, the world seemed to unfold in front of us. As society begins returning to what is considered ‘normal’, the exhibition, public notice cultivates this way of seeing. Viewers can take their time, getting lost in the scratches and indentations of the city-scape, a perverse alternative to the white cube gallery. By punctuating our daily routine with art we are reminded to slow down and observe. To stop and notice.

The project will take place across East London for the duration of 10 days, opening night will be on Thursday 20th August and the exhibition will continue until Monday 30th August. Artworks will occupy the windows of shops, cafes, galleries and other local businesses. Exhibition goers will be provided with a map which will encourage a directionless exploration of public notice. Viewers will be able to tailor their experience, some may simply view the works from the street whilst others may choose to engage with each venue along their way.

The exhibition will be a great chance for artists to showcase their work in prime locations and spaces, working alongside London galleries and local businesses, with the opportunity to sell their work.
