Contrast!, Issue 2 is an exhibition and a publication surrounding the theme and concept of contrast- what it means in art and how it is portrayed. We encourage you to take the idea as conceptually or literally as possible, as it is a form of creative research on how contrast as an concept appears in art.

The exhibition will be hosted on our gallery site and promoted on social media (Instagram and LinkedIn).

A publication (as Contrast! will be the second Issue!) will be created, printed and sent to participating artists.

We will sell a limited number of these issues through our website store. Please see the shipping section for information on how much you will receive.

After the popularity of our Contrast Publication (it had sold out fast!), we are splitting it from Material and making it into its issuance!

Successful participants:

  • Receive a copy (or multiple copies) of the zine/publication sent to their address.
  • Are published within the publication and be a part of the publication's online exhibition on Metaspacegallery.com

FEES:

  • No Submission fee.
  • Application fee: If accepted, you must pay £25 (the base fee for up to 3 artworks) and £6.50 each for any extra artwork after the third (i.e., 3 extra artworks would require you to pay £19.50 more). You can either pay through our website or PayPal, and we will send you a message about this in due time.
  • The application fee helps us pay for website upkeep and the numerous costs accrued by our gallery, upgrade our website and social presence and pay for the publication's shipping, printing, and production.

INTERVIEW FEE:

  • If you want an interview in the publication, you will pay per page of the interview used. It costs £6.50 per page, and we will only charge after the interview. This will allow you to take parts out to reduce the cost if it uses more pages than you want.

SHIPPING:

  • Every successful artist will receive a copy. However, we do offer up to two copies to UK-based artists. Due to shipping costs, we do not offer the extra copy to artists outside the UK, but please contact us if you want more than one or if you wish to pay shipping so that we can arrange multiple copies.

PUBLICATION QUALITY:

  • The publication is A4, perfect-bound with 200gsm inside and 350gsm cover paper.
  • The publication will be printed by the end of October and shipped off at the start of November. This is variable and will depend on how many artists we represent in the publication.

The exhibition will be held from 1st of November to the 21st of November 2024. The exhibition is held online.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • Do not send anything deemed discriminatory or hateful to any group of people.
  • Make sure that your work can be displayed in digital format and is a high-quality image. Give a thorough description of the work and your artist statement.
  • You also permit us to post work you have sent on our website, in articles, and on social media. We retain the right to remove your work from our website for whatever reason(s). However, your work cannot be removed from the publication once it is printed.
