PAGES is now inviting proposals for the Enfolded Journeys touring artist's book project, to be launched at The Leeds Library, Leeds, UK, 21st March until 5th April, 2025. PROPOSAL DEADLINE: 11.59pm on FRIDAY 13th DECEMBER 2024.

A selection will be made from written proposals for new book works conceived in response to themes suggested by the title Enfolded Journeys – ones relating of travel, displacement, geographies and borders, and migration in recent times and in the past as the effects of such movements of peoples, whether compelled or voluntary, may resound through the generations.

Your proposal should consist of an outline of up to 200 words describing the book’s material structure and content, and how your concept engages with the theme. Sketches/images may be included. The material book (papers, sequence, format and construction) should be integral to the idea and contribute to the meaning of the work.

The intended book must be a new work, originated and made for this project.

The selected books will form a touring exhibition, and be displayed on a specially designed modular structure, and are to be handled by the public. To date, venues have been secured in Leeds, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Doncaster and Venice.

There are no fees to be paid to participants, nor charged by the organisers.

An illustrated catalogue will be published.

To Apply:
Please complete the online form at the ‘Make a Submission’ tab with all the relevant information by 23:59 on FRIDAY 13th DECEMBER 2024

The selection will be made by a panel of four, comprising of the two PAGES coordinators, John McDowall and Chris Taylor, and two external artists/curators who have direct experience of migration. Notice of whether your proposal is accepted or not will be given by the 20th December 2024.

Selected books are to be completed and delivered by 21st February 2025.

One copy of each selected book will be kept as part of an ongoing touring exhibition, archive and resource.
