Call for entries for an International Photography Exhibition. This six week exhibition will be a photography exhibition with the theme Portraiture. Free to submit, open to everyone.

The Glasgow Gallery of Photography is running a 6 week exhibition in May, and June called Portrait.  

One of our most popular exhibitions is back, and this time it is a six week long exhibition.

Portraiture is one of the most popular genres in photography; from studio photoshoots to candid holiday snapshots and infamous selfies, portraits are all around us.

We want to see how you approach the genre, whether that be looking back to classical portraits of the past for inspiration or taking a more modern approach; we would love to see what you submit.

Portrait is an open call for photographers to submit up to 8 images.

Photographers who are selected will have their work displayed in our gallery, with their work also appearing online in an online gallery on our website.

All participants who are selected to take part in the exhibition will receive a digital certificate of participation and will also be put forward for a chance to be named Photographer of the Month (PotM).

If named PotM your work will be highlighted on our social media and website and will be part of an end of year zine  showcasing the work of the 12 photographers named Photographer of the Month that year; you will also receive a free copy of the zine.

Any work selected can be listed for sale during the exhibition and can be part of our Sale and Promotion stands in our gallery after the exhibition. Please visit our website for more information.

We want to see work from both emerging and established photographers.

You do not need to be a professional photographer to participate, as we believe that photography is for everyone and exhibiting your work is a great way of developing your practice and helping you towards the next stages of your learning or career goals.

How to participate:

Submissions are FREE.  If your work is selected, there will be a participation fee of £58.

This fee covers the cost of everything. We will print, install and un-install the work in our gallery space.

Unless otherwise stated by the gallery, images will either be printed 18"x12, 16"x12", or 12"x12" in size, depending on the image.

Photographers can collect their work after the exhibition; we will hold prints for one month.

The deadline for this exhibition:  7th February 2025

1. Choose up to 8 images, 72 ppi is fine for the initial submission.
   (If selected you will be asked to supply images at 300ppi and  3000 Pixels minimum on the shortest side. Work will be displayed in various sizes).

2. Name your image files with your name in this format: Firstname-Surname, e.g John-Smith1, John-Smith2.

   If you do not name your files correctly, it could result in your files getting lost or misplaced.
   Please only use your name, do not include image titles or any other information, this can be added elsewhere in your submission.

3. Make sure your images are JPEG files. We can only accept jpegs as this is what the printing company that we use requires.

Once the deadline has passed, photographers who have been selected will be contacted and asked to pay the participation fee.

The gallery then does the rest.
