This open call is for our party on the 23rd of February. Riposte is a London-based Queer Art Rave. We host a variety of DJs, live performers, stalls and visual artists in a safe space made for queer people.

Open to all kinds of submissions, if you think it can happen in a club night!

Preferably all from queer people & priority to QTIPOC but strong allies are welcomed to apply. The work doesn’t have to be about queerness. Share with your friends and check our IG @riposte.london to understand the kind of events we put on ❤️

We aim to create a club night facilitating connections and with the concept of community at its core. A club night where you can have good chats, create memories and discover amazing artists.

We want to create a space where you can dance all night to quality techno. A space where you can have a good time sober. A space where minorities are empowered. A space where you can have a lot of fun without needing to spend money if you are in a hard time.

We want to curate a space where meeting new people is easy. A sex-positive space with dedicated spaces to get sexy, with a strong culture of consent and respect. A space where we recognise that we are all on the same level, just on different paths of life, that we all have something to teach each other and where people are eager to learn. 

We are looking for art (in its broadest form) that can happen in a nightclub. It can be anything.  We welcome new artists and experiments. We love absurdity. We like our guests to leave with a “wow that was absolutely incredible, unexpected and new” and “what the hell just happened”.

You will work with curators to plan the event beforehand. Because of the sheer amount of things happening during the night, we need people who will be able to take care of themselves during the event.

Note: the dance floor is a sacred space focused on music, so we usually don’t have art there. It is also important to recognise the space for what it is when creating, most people are not sober and we welcome that state. We expect around 1000 people, make the most of it!

Important Notes:

• You will need to be available for a brief meeting and communications leading up to the event, and be there on the day to install + deinstall (there will be a curator and volunteers to help you)

Visual artists keep all profits from their sales. We have a small budget to help with materials and transport when necessary.

If you are selected, we will have a video call, we can also visit the venue together to decide where your piece will go and how to install it. We will speak through every detail to make sure it will go smoothly.

About Us

Riposte is an art-rave showcasing artists who are part of under-represented groups. Since its creation in 2012, Riposte organised 60+ events between France and U.K. in 6 different cities. These events were created by people who are not comfortable in big institutions and museums, both because they are often too expensive to access, but also because they are too straight, too white and too posh. We decided to curate and create art in places where we felt comfortable like house parties, raves, clubs, which led to Riposte. Our events gained traction and we now have 60+ people/artists per event.
