Soft Cover invites current photography students and recent graduates to submit never-before published work for inclusion in a new group publication.

To coincide with Soft Cover – a photographic art event in celebration of the photobook – Swansea College of Art, Photography Department are developing a new print publication.

With its rich history of photographic alumni working with and around the photobook, we are welcoming applications from students and recently graduated photographers from around the world who want to see their work reimagined in print form.

With an open theme, photography students and graduates are encouraged to submit their original work for consideration of the selection committee at Swansea College of Art, Photography Department who will curate a selection of submitted projects which make good use of the photobook format.

A limited-edition publication will bring together the work of recent graduates (July 2022, 23, 24) from around the world.

Applications are welcome from students of Undergraduate/Postgraduate courses in Photography (and related creative subjects) who can submit the following:

  • 5-10 photographs from a single recent project not previously published in book format.
  • An example layout across up to 5 double A5 pages (digital or hand made)*
  • 200-300 words detailing the project submitted.
  • 100-word biography including current/recent course and institution.
  • Website, social media or pdf portfolio.

If you are chosen, you will be asked to provide high-resolution, print-quality images with 300 dpi.

Selected photographers' work will be included in both the publication produced as well as inclusion in a print version of the project exhibited within the Soft Cover event.

As well as publication and promotion, photographers will receive a copy of the printed publication posted out after the event.

* See application form for more detail on page layouts.
