We are a collective of three artists known as FUBAR (F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition) who create & exhibit alternative conceptual art. We are inviting UK-based artists to respond to the theme of ‘The Absurd’, to participate in a group show at The Crypt Gallery, London, this August.
The theme is open to interpretation & selection will focus on conceptual & alternative arts of all mediums.

Absurd  .  Absurdism  .  Absurdity

We aim to create a varied, visually stimulating & engaging event that ignites discussion, & unites artist & audience.

Location:

The exhibition will take place at The Crypt Gallery, London. The Crypt of St Pancras Parish Church in Euston, London was designed & used for coffin burials from 1822 to 1854. In 2002 the Crypt became a gallery space and is now a popular venue hosting a year-round programme of art exhibitions, providing an intensely atmospheric backdrop.

You can take a 3D tour of the gallery here: Crypt Gallery Tour

To respect the space as a burial site & an active place of worship, artwork must not be deemed to be pornographic, abusive, or relating to the occult.

Please be aware that the crypt is not heated, therefore paper-based artworks could be affected by the damp environment.

Accessibility:

Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access into The Crypt Gallery. There are steep uneven stone steps with handrail, leading down into the gallery. The floor of the gallery is uneven stone & can become slippery in wet weather.

Submissions:

Artists are invited to submit up to 10 images of work(s) or project(s) for consideration.
Please ensure work(s) & descriptions can be easily matched. Feel free to send these as separate submissions if this is easier.

Submissions to this exhibition are free. Upon successful application, artists will be asked to pay a non-refundable fee of £70 to secure their inclusion in the exhibition.

We are a not-for-profit collective & are not receiving a fee for curating this exhibtion. This fee is to cover expenses of hire costs, private view costs & promotion.

There will be 0% commission on all sales.

Artists wil receive coverage across our social media platforms, & have the option to take part in our print sale.

All artists are strongly advised to have their own insurance for work, as curators and gallery owners cannot be held responsible.

We will notify successful artists shortly after the application deadline and provide further details.
