The Walls Exhibitions
Deadline: n/aVenue: The Old Red Bus Station | City: Leeds | Region: West Yorkshire | Country: United Kingdom | Saskia Goodwill
The Old Red Bus Station is offering Leeds based creatives the opportunity to host exhibitions at their venue this year!
What is 'The Walls' at The Old Red Bus Station?
The Walls is a creative opportunity run by artists, for artists. We work with local up and coming creatives, giving them the opportunity to 'test the waters' and springboard into the industry. We offer a space for artists to exhibit their work free of charge, letting them engage audiences further, without financial restraints. With the DIY nature of the venue it allows for artists to exhibit their work in a friendly, welcoming environment and avoid intimidating white gallery walls.
About the Venue
The Old Red Bus Station is a DIY event space and cultural hub in the city centre of Leeds encompassing a club, bar, gallery and vegan cantina. We promote underground electronic music, local artist exhibitions and have a pledge to support local creative culture. We work with up and coming musicians, promoters, and artists and with our diverse programming we have established ourselves as a popular cultural spot for youth in Leeds.
What we are looking for
We are looking for Leeds based creatives who want to expand their audience and form creative connections with the venue and within the city. You could also be a group/collective who are looking for a space to exhibit a show/put on an event. We welcome collaborative exhibitions with open arms. We are open to all kinds of creativity (illustration, photography, graphic design, fine art and more) but you must have a connection to Leeds and being familiar with the venue is a bonus!
The Opportunity
We offer successful applicants the opportunity to host an exhibition at the venue for a 2 week period. There is one 6m and two 4m walls to fill so think big! You will host an opening night with family/friends and our customers. We are passionate about moving art through music so we encourage you to invite along a DJ or live music performer (or Spotify playlist) to provide the soundtrack to your opening night. Our in-house team provides promotional support by showcasing your work on our social media platforms. You will also have the opportunity to sell prints through our online store as well as any physical pieces on display. Do note, we take a 22.5% commission on any work sold.
Any questions you may have please get in touch.
