Interested in having your art published, printed, and posted directly to your door? Participate alongside a diverse network of incredible artists, underpinned by this iteration's theme: Aqua. Wiro Mag welcomes both emerging and established artists to feature in this debut edition. All art in any medium related to this theme is welcome!

Wiro Mag is a paperbound gallery space designed to capture art practice in motion, seeking to connect emerging and established artists with broader audiences, gain reputable and high-quality exposure, and drive intimate conversations with creative individuals or collectives.

In Wiro Mag: Aqua, work displaying or engaging with themes such as water, humidity, hydration, or dripping are invited to be featured in a bespoke double-page spread.

A delicate watercolour preserves its cured edges within a crisp and tactile surface.

Drips of each pigment intersect, combine, and disperse across an otherwise blank surface.

We are reminded of the dynamic and restless motion of water, even in such parched and confined environments.

A virtual model of a remote island, surrounded by a deep blue abyss, briefly tricks the mind into ephemerality.

A vivid plastique shimmer across the sculpted surface of the water reminds us how fragile our ability to distinguish fact from fiction really is.

The blurriness between what we can capture with a camera and what we can imitate through the use of sophisticated digital modelling has never been so profound.

A thick, crusty, impasto surface engulfs an immured canvas with swaths of marine hues.

Unrelenting applications of opaque blue pigments exhibit sculptural qualities that bulge, pulling our eyes into a vast expanse of nautical space.

The liquid viscosity of oil and acrylic is immortalised.

An emotionally charged linocut featuring eye-catching text and powerful imagery depicts the frailty of our ecosystem due to human activity, emphasising the strain we place on live-giving resources on which we depend.

It is through the visualisation of boiling oceans, harmful chemicals, and forever materials we are reminded of the threat we impose on the survival of ourselves and the species we inhabit this planet alongside.

These are just some of the ways in which the theme Aqua could be captured in the work you submit.

Wiro Mag invited you to challenge this criteria and push the boundaries of how water can be depicted or expressed through art practice.
