'20x20 Vision is Art Upstairs open call for artists and makers in the SW England to show their work as part of the gallery's programme of exhibitions in 2024. All works, including frames, must be 20x20 either in cm or inches. The exhibition will run from 2nd October to 11th November 2024. Prizes include solo shows at Art Upstairs, another SW gallery and cash prizes. Submission cost £10 for up to four works with ArtMakers (paid members) paying a reduced fee of £7.

Art Upstairs has been open for a year at 1st Floor, 24 The Quay, Bideford, EX39 2EZ.  It is run by artists and supported by ArtMakers, a not-for profit CIC. It is open five days a week during exhibitions from 10.30am - 4.30pm.

  • Submissions are open from Weds 7th August to 4th September 2024.
  • The exhibition will run from 2nd October to 11th November 2024.
  • All works, including frames, must be 20x20, either in cm or inches.   
  •      3D works have a limit of 20x20cm base with max 20”x20” height
  • Any medium or subject is acceptable from drawing and textiles to oil paintings and ceramic works.
  • Artmakers will take a 35% commission on all works sold at the exhibition with a reduced rate for ArtMakers premium and standard members of 30%.

  • Prizes include:

A solo show at  Art Upstairs Gallery and another at 'Art Plus Frames' gallery in Crediton, which normally hosts collective shows of SW artists and is open five days a week.

Cash prizes include the ArtMakers prize of  £200.

 

Submission fees

The following submission fees apply to this opportunity.

  • Standard fee - 10.00 GBP
  • ArtMakers fee - 7.00 GBP

The appropriate fee will be payable using a debit or credit card after the first submission has been completed. If the submission fee allows you to submit more than once, you will be able to make further submissions after the first. Any artist or maker living or working in the SW England, defined as Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset.

Are there payments to artists?
There are prizes for the winners and work can be for sale. Artmakers will take a 35% commission on all works sold at the exhibition with a reduced rate for ArtMakers premium and standard members of 30%.

Does the location have disabled access?
Sadly not, owing to a narrow stair access.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Art Upstairs runs a daily social media campaign, reaching upwards of 15,000. In addition a PR programme of news releases for regional and national magazines plus local media interviews will be undertaken.
