Dimitra Bouritsa

Peru is a contemporary art space in the heart of Athens, Greece. It is founded by an artist and runs as an independent space, with diverse functions and events.

In Peru there are daily creative workshops based on painting but only, intertwining all art fields. We focus on mindfulness, self-exploration, connection, communication, healing and learning through art. The workshops are for everyone and anyone, all levels and all ages.

Through art talks and presentations, we aim to bring more light  to the artwork of important women artists throughout all art history to today.

In our space there are held themed art events and carefully curated art shows. Promoting and presenting contemporary artists that really speak to us and attune with our vision and approach is essential.

Our location is in Exarhia, very close to the National Archaeological Museum, in a vibrant upbringing area.

Insistrum 's emerging artistic community presents its new curatorial project, the art exhibition "Chroma&Soma | Exploring the multifaceted nature of women", at the new, colorful contemporary art space of Peru Athens, from 8 to 18 March 2024. On the occasion of this artistic and curatorial collaboration, the exhibition attempts to highlight parts of reality and myth, the present and the past, through the eyes of two women artists. The artists whom the exhibition attempts to highlight, Dimitra Bouritsa and Danae Smoustopoulou, have seemingly different techniques and styles, but with a common axis of vivid colour and female representation. In a celebration of womanhood, the exhibition could not begin any other day than Women's Day. About: This exhibition invites viewers on a journey through the myriad stories that celebrate the essence of femininity, told through surreal symbolism and vivid imagery. The exhibition captures the multifaceted nature of women, presenting a visual feast that explores themes of beauty, resilience and the complexities of existence. The artworks unfold as a visual dialogue, with each piece contributing to a rich mosaic of narratives that are diverse, yet seamlessly connected. The exhibition functions as a celebration of the female spirit, with the artists delving into different perspectives and approaches. From surreal realms imbued with myth and symbolism to relatable snapshots of everyday life, the exhibition offers a comprehensive exploration of narrative. Every brush stroke and carefully crafted detail invites the audience to connect with the stories embedded in the artworks.
