CuratorSpace Artist Bursary #24: Sarah Goudie
Sarah Goudie works with contemplative making practices to investigate feminist narratives of touch and witness. She is fascinated by the space of drawing and the poetics of beauty and injury, poise and longing through the enduring presence of objects and land.
"My project responds to the theme 'Air, Sea, Soil: Drawing with Place' as part of a group residency at The Museum of Loss and Renewal in Orkney, alongside another eight international artists. My work will begin before arriving through documenting the change of landscape over the 600 miles of my journey by car and ferry. I will approach this through producing drawings, films and writing as part of my expanded drawing practice.
My aims for the project are to explore new theories, and to experience the extraordinary wildness, coast and unique heritage of Orkney. During my time on the island, I will work with underwater photography, writing and film making to begin a new body of work considering embodied stillness. This project brings me closer to my own Scottish heritage while providing opportunities to engage with other artists about my practice and process."
