Who am I? A question I will always struggle with. I have two sides- my feminine and my masculine . My routes of action films and sci-fi has merged with my love for glamour, pop culture, costume and character. The questioning of identity and gender within myself and society has led way to a desire to explore this and other social topics through my work. Society is my biggest inspiration.

“Drag is simply Fantasy” –Jonathon Mayors

To clarify I am not a Drag performer, I am a Film-maker and artist. After interviewing Jonathon for my recent Drag documentary, his words stuck with me. I now acknowledge my work as fantasy, an escape from reality. My current work attempts to provide representation, question modern society, draw connections to belief and manipulation and reverse colour associations.

I have an increasing desire to explore themes and topics, from politics, mythology, religion, science fiction, character and glamour all through a lens of identity, gender and sexuality. Sprouted from my own struggles. I often say my routes of sci-fi, action and fantasy have merged with my love for pop culture, glamour, culture, costume and character. Whether visual, written or sound I take inspiration and motivation from a range of forms.

I am continuously exploring these themes in ways that are visually enticing, entertaining or even disturbing. I adore colour and its ability to affect mood or connote meaning and visuals are a vital part of my work. Similarly, I love movement, performance and theatricality. I want to create work that is not only visually representative but emotionally, theoretically or metaphorically explores issues. I aim to challenge views, opinions and emotions to ensure my work has an effect on people, whether that be a short escape or a thought provoking journey.

I craft, design and create costumes and set for my films, that are often bold and extravagant. Incorporating texture, colour, contrast and symbolism to explore character and narrative. My visuals include not only set, costume and colour, but also the power of the lens, ensuring my shots enhance themes, emotion, status and aesthetic.

Although my focus has been film, I am beginning to venture into other forms such as digital art and still image, with the hope to venture further such as live performance and art direction.
