    I am a Yorkshire based artist specialising in palette knife painting. I produce landscape, figurative and still life paintings using acrylics, often on large scale canvases. My work is represented by several northern galleries in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Lake District, and via solo and mixed exhibitions across the north. I run workshops from home and for art groups and work to commission.

    I love every gnome I make and put a lot of thought into their making. I make each one individually and work on it until it's finished before starting the next. I love doing the custom gnomes. They bring me such joy because I am trying to make an inspiration into an actualization. And it's so nice to collaborate with what other people are imagining and bringing it out in a hand felted gnome.

Her work blends contemporary and traditional techniques, exploring themes of identity, storytelling, and cultural complexity. I first trained in ceramics and then studied fine art sculpture and printmaking, at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, from which I graduated BA Hons in 1992.     Nesta Pilkington is the working name of Suzy Maxwell MA (Falmouth 2006). A main concept of the work is a love of animals, who they are and how they touch our lives. Where we and they 'meet' is a sort of cross-species connection. It is a spiritual connection and when they inevitably die, we feel it as an unbelievably deep loss. The sculptures are an interpretation of this inter-relationship.
