The Secret Salon presents 'ELECTRIC LADYLAND' on 14th December 2024

A feminist-focused physical Art exhibition in a network of iconic caves in South London (15 mins from London Bridge)

Following a string of very successful art exhibitions this year, we will be celebrating the anniversary of the legendary Jimi Hendrix's performance at the caves in December 1967.

There will be a one-day pop-up physical exhibition where artists can sell their work.

We encourage this through our large network and attendees to the event.

Artists' names will be visible and contactable at the event, and The Secret Salon will hold only a 20% commission on sales.

There will be a Private View from 2:30 - 4 pm in the caves with hospitality and a photographer provided to document the event, which will be shared with all participating artists.

The caves also hosted performances by David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Led Zepellin in the 60's / 70's and this is sure to be a very exciting and unique art event.

This exhibition will be hosted by pro-active, post-punk artist Andree Adley CSM, who is a very colourful character, and she will be looking for fresh, new and outstanding work to display in this remarkable venue.

To get a flavour, check out her Instagram @andreeadleyartist  and  instagram.com/the_secretsalon_/

This open call is for artists to submit their works as postcard size (A6) on lightweight card or paper - You may submit as many cards as you wish with a minimum of 4 cards. This will form part of a larger piece, i.e. all the cards displayed together in situ.

ALL POSTCARDS  RELATING TO "ELECTRIC LADYLAND" WILL BE ACCEPTED!

A contribution of £8.75 per postcard is asked to help with the costs of this not-for-profit event (to help with venue hire, PV, hospitality etc)

Your work can be of any idea or medium you like, but it must relate to the theme in some way;

Work will need to reach us in advance of the 14th December; details will be provided to applicants.

The theme is "Electric Ladyland"

This could be the love of being female or the female form.

It could be women's rights, it could be your experience of gender/ gender transitioning, poetry based on this theme, in-depth writings or abstract representations.

Jimi Hendrix related imagery, flower power, love and peace. These are just some ideas in directions you may follow for this exhibition.

Priority will be given to feminist-focused works and underrepresented groups; we have a non-discriminatory policy; however, we do not accept pornographic or offensive material.
