Inspired by gender performativity theory and the concept of queer futurity, this exhibition aims to explore the many facets of queer identity and envision a hopeful queer future. By showcasing diverse expressions of identity, we seek to challenge conventional societal norms and break free from the restrictions related to gender and sexuality.

By tracing the complex, multi-layered emotional journey that many queer individuals experience - encompassing both the dark and bright sides - and shedding light on community support and activism, we hope to reflect the past and present reality while opening up visions of a more inclusive, hopeful future.

We are seeking submissions from artists, performers, and creatives for an exciting and all-inclusive LGBTQIA+ themed exhibition, which will be taking place at the unconventional space, the SafeHouse 1, in Peckham- South London on April 11th-13th, 2025.

This weekend-long, immersive exhibition will feature works in a variety of media, accompanied by live performances, all centred around the expression and celebration of queer identity and community.

We welcome submissions from creators working in all mediums - visual art, performance, video, sound, and beyond.

We are particularly keen to hear from artists from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

FAQ

Q - Will the selected artists be paid?

A -  Our objective is to ensure that all artists receive a compensation of £200 for their contributions.

At present, we are awaiting the approval of funding.

Should this funding not be secured, we will initiate a series of fundraising events to provide compensation for the artists and to cover the expenses associated with the exhibition, but that will probably be a smaller fee.

Q - If I am selected to exhibit, will I have the opportunity to sell my work?

A - Yes. However, the artwork may only be removed from the venue upon the conclusion of the exhibition.

It is the responsibility of each artist to manage the sale, packaging, and shipping of their respective works.
