Artizan Collective and Delamore Arts are seeking proposals from artists and workshop delivers to activate their newest creative space, The Old Workshop. This is a selective call to which we are inviting proposals from which we will then curate a rounded programme of activity.

Overview

Delamore

Delamore arts is an annual month-long exhibition that has been running successfully for just over 20 years. It attracts artists and visitors from across the UK with all works selected by a panel of judges to ensure and maintain a high standard of work. Whilst its focus initially was on sculptural works that are placed within the grounds and the house, 2D works have become an important part of the offer and adorn the walls in the main house salon style to compliment a supporting collection of interior 3D works.

Delamore regularly sees repeat visitors for whom this event is part of their arts calendar and many of those visitors come with the intent to buy. There is a café on site so most visitors will spend several hours and fully explore all that is on offer. Proceeds from the exhibition support a designated charity that is selected each year by Delamore.

Artizan

For the month of May, we move to Delamore Estate and support this fantastic annual showcase with our own curated offer. Contemporary British Printmakers and The Kiln Room will provide two unique exhibition additions to this year’s programme, with the rest of the courtyard spaces being used to develop new programming offers including workshops, demonstrations and maker takeovers.

Offer

The Old Workshop is a new offering that will sit alongside the second year of Contemporary British Printmakers and follows on from the success and popularity of demonstrations and ‘have a go’ sessions that were run as part of this during 2024.

Now with a dedicated separate space for such activity, we are hoping to curate a mix of half day, whole day, multi day, and drop-in activity across the full month, for audiences to get involved with, and we are seeking proposals from artists and groups to deliver to a captive arts audience.

Summary

  • Unique workshop offer for audiences to include access to Delamore Arts annual exhibition programme
  • Option to submit multiple event proposals, sessions and various length workshops

Example Opportunities

The below example opportunities would all be considered viable as part of the offer. These are illustrative examples only designed to help guide on what can be accommodated:

  • Weekend Watercolour Bootcamp: three-day watercolour workshop with lunch included each day, with guided tuition from the workshop space and ground.

Demonstrations

Anyone alternatively interested in delivering demonstrations rather than participatory workshops should get in touch with us directly.

The Space

Part of the old stable courtyard, The Old Workshop, has for some years been the home of Gavin and Nicky’s classic cars. But for May, they are turning it over to us along with the wider Courtyard area as a large and functional workshop space.

Space details include:

  • Large functional workshop space with dimensions of approximately 7.3m x 2.4m
  • Electricity, water and Wi-Fi
  • Provision of basic workshop equipment such as tables and chairs
  • Easy vehicle access for setup, loading and unloading and nearby parking
  • Large garage doors opening on to courtyard for natural light and ventilation (2.4m)
  • Additional available use of outdoor space both in the Courtyard and grounds by approval on a case-by-case basis for specific activity

Fees

There are no fees for submitting to this opportunity.

When calculating the cost of participation in your workshop you will need to complete the supporting “Workshop Fee” form here.

This form takes your fee per participant and adds certain of the additional costs below where required:

  • Entry fee to Delamore: £15/pp
  • Optional Lunch (use the form to indicate if this is to be included in your workshop offer): £10/pp
  • Box office/administrative fee: 10%

The form will then automatically calculate your final ticket price per participant.

Marketing and Audience

Online

The Workshop Calendar will have a dedicated online hub within our own website with all delivery partners getting a profile where they can share additional works for sale and opportunities they may be offering. The events will also all be listed on the Delamore Arts website with all tickets and bookings being centrally managed by Artizan Collective CIC.

All events and workshops will also be listed across various online promotional platforms including Facebook Events and Visual Arts South West.

Other Promotion

Supporting flyering, and extensive event listings, press inclusions and paid advertising are carried out by Delamore, and its long-running pedigree guarantees returning audiences. Artizan will support these efforts with its own campaign promoting their attendance and inclusion in this year’s event.

Audience

Delamore attracts an audience in excess of 6,000 annually with a consistent record for high sales both from the sculpture trail and supporting exhibitions. In continuing to evolve the event and promoting the new offers such as this, they show their commitment to growing audiences.
