Artlink Centre for Community Arts is inviting exhibition proposals from students, recently graduated artists and curators in East Yorkshire to develop an exhibition in our main gallery space with a £500 exhibition budget and £250 award.

We are looking to support artists, curators and curatorial groups between the ages of 18 and 25 that wish to explore new exhibition ideas within a established gallery setting. This opportunity will provide the selected individual or group the chance to gain skills and experience of organising, marketing and curating their own show.

We welcome proposals exploring all types of contemporary art practice and approaches to exhibiting with a particular interest on improving the visibility of contemporary art in East Yorkshire. We are particularly interested in proposals that are innovative and experimental and seek to challenge conventional ways of exhibiting. We are open to ideas as long as the exhibition can be realised within the time frame and budget provided. We are looking for proposals that have a strong curatorial concept, examples of proposals that will be considered:

-       Exhibitions bringing together artists exploring similar themes and concepts, e.g. the colour black.

-       Exhibitions bringing together artists similar media and materials, e.g. steel sculptures.

-       An exhibition of a specific group of people, e.g. contemporary feminist artists curated with a particular focus on the use of domestic materials.

We will accept applications from individuals and groups. If you are applying as a group please nominate one lead contact. If successful, the lead contact will be responsible for splitting the prize money between the participants.
